What is a Library of Things (LOT)?

A Library of Things, or LOT, is a non-traditional library collection that includes digital equipment, tools, games, and more.

How can I check out a LOT?

A valid library card and an identification/driver’s license is required to check out a LOT.  Patron accounts must be up-to-date, and clear of any billed or replacement items.

How long can I borrow a LOT for?

LOT check out for one (1) week, and there are no renewals.

Can I renew a LOT?

No.  Items circulate for one (1) week and are not renewable.

Can I place a LOT on hold?

No. LOTs are first come first served.

Are there any fines if LOT is returned late?

Yes.  A fine of $10 a day is charged for any LOT item that is returned late.

What happens if I misplace a part or a part is damaged while in my possession?

For LOTs not returned, or returned damaged or missing parts, the borrower will be charged with the full replacement cost of the item. The responsibility to protect against loss or theft belongs to the borrower.

How many LOTs can I check out at any one time?

Patrons can check out one (1) item per household at any one time.

Can I return a LOT to another library?

No, LOT items must be returned to New London on or before the due date.

 What happens if an item breaks or is damaged while I’m using it?

Patrons are responsible for items checked out to their library card until the item is returned.  Please stop using the item immediately and contact the library if you suspect that it is damaged.

Is there a fee for items returned that have not been cleaned?

Yes. Patrons must pay a fee for items returned in soiled condition. This amount could equal the full replacement cost of the item.

Can I donate a LOT?
