Notary Public Services

The Public Library of New London offers Notary Services for our patrons for $1.00 per Notary signature/stamp.

When is the Notary available?

The notary will not be available from July 4 – July 14, 2024.

Monday: 12:00-6:30
Tuesday: 10:00-4:30
Wednesday: 10:00-4:30
Thursday: 10:00-4:30
Friday: 10:00-4:30

What do you need to bring?

A) You will need to provide 2 (two) forms of ID containing your signature that are up to date.  (The ID cannot be expired)

*The primary ID must have been issued by a federal government or a state government.  It must have your photograph and your signature on it. The most common examples are passports (issued by the United States or other countries), driver’s licenses (and state-issued non-drivers’ IDs), and pistol permits.  A “Green Card” is also acceptable as long as it has your signature.

*The secondary ID does not need to have a photo on it but it must contain your signature; typically used are work IDs and signed credit cards or debit cards.
***Please note that “See ID” cannot be used as a form of ID.

The signature in each ID must match each other and have the same name as the document to be signed.

-The identification you present must match the name on the document(s) to be notarized.
-For people who have changed their names through marriage, divorce, etc., you must have identification matching the document(s) to be notarized.

Please note that social security cards or birth certificates are NOT acceptable forms of ID.

B) If the document to be notarized requires witnesses, it is your responsibility to provide them.  The library staff is not required to provide this service.

Please keep in mind that a notary public cannot give legal advice.
