Sign Up for Summer Reading 2021!
The Public Library of New London is gearing up to kick off this year’s Summer Reading program on June 28th! This is the perfect time for library patrons of all ages to check out some new books, participate in fun activities, and develop reading skills throughout the summer for a chance to win prizes. Find out how to sign up below!
Children’s Summer Reading
Families can sign up by stopping by Children’s Desk at the Public Library of New London, or calling us at (860) 447-1411×103.
After registering, kids can keep track of the books they have read all summer by picking up a reading log at the library or by downloading the log below. Report your progress to the Children’s Desk for a chance to win prizes every week!

Stop by the library each week for a different take and make kit with building and craft activities for children (note that the craft schedule is subject to change):
First week (June 28th – July 4th): Kickoff event, all ages painting
Second Week (July 5th – 11th): Beaded animal keychains
Third Week (July 12th – 18th): Popsicle stick design and build challenge
Fourth Week (July 19th – 25th): Mix and match flip book
Fifth Week (July 26th – Aug 1st): Make a mirror box activity
Sixth Week (Aug 2nd – 7th): Modeling clay animals
Kid-safe 3D pens will also be available to use in the library’s community room by appointment Monday mornings from 10:30-12. Please call our Children’s Desk for more information about reserving a session.

Teen Summer Reading
Every Thursday throughout the summer (June 28th – August 5th) at 3:30pm, the library will host video games for teens via STEAM Remote Play and Discord! You can join our Discord server for more information at https://discord.gg/TFVt5NC.
Teens can also stop by and pick up a take and make bag filled with a craft or science experiment every week starting June 28th. Please check the schedule below to find out when different bags will be available.
First week (June 28th – July 4th): Kickoff event, all ages painting
Second Week (July 5th – 11th): Magnetic slime science experiment
Third Week (July 12th – 18th): Henna art (with stencils)
Fourth Week (July 19th – 25th): Make a personal fan
Fifth Week (July 26th – Aug 1st): Sand art bottles
Sixth Week (Aug 2nd – 7th): Grow a crystal at home
At the end of summer we will hold a raffle for some Amazon gift cards (one $50 and two $25), here’s how to enter! By Signing up for Summer Reading you get one entry, and for each activity completed on the sheet below you get an additional entry. If you can’t make it into the library to turn in your sheet you can call/E-mail us and we’ll make sure you get your entries!

Adult Summer Reading
Sign up for the Adult Summer Reading program for a chance to win one of these great prizes from this year’s sponsors:

Register online starting June 28th using the online form, or by stopping by the information desk at the library. You will automatically earn 1 entry into our summer raffle just for registering for the program!

After you register, use your BINGO board to earn additional raffle tickets simply by reading, attending library programs, and completing additional fun challenges throughout the summer. Report your progress to the information desk as you play until our final drawing on August 9th. A schedule of adult programs happening this summer is available at PLNL.org/events.
