Fight Behavior: A Novel
Set in Appalachia, as seen through the eyes of an intelligent, independent young mother, Dellarobia. The book has a strong storyline with global warming as an integral theme. It occasionally borders on the polemic, but Kingsolver writes such beautiful sentences, that is easy to forgive. The title refers both to the migratory path of the monarch butterflies, which instead of migrating to Mexico end up Appalachia, and Dellarobia’s growing realization that she needs to change her life. The powerful ending stayed with me for days. – Recommended by Suzanne
